Techstep AB, one of the leading providers of mobile solutions and device lifecycle management services for businesses across the Nordic region, has selected Univio as its technology partner to build a modern B2B e-commerce platform. Based on commercetools technology, the project marks the first step in consolidating Techstep’s fragmented online sales and ERP landscape, creating a scalable foundation for future growth across multiple Nordic markets.
Digital Transformation in B2B Commerce Accelerates
Companies operating across multiple markets are increasingly challenged by the complexity of IT environments that have evolved independently over time. Running multiple e-commerce platforms and ERP systems in parallel makes it difficult to scale operations efficiently, increases maintenance costs, and limits the ability to deliver a consistent customer experience. At the same time, rising customer expectations and the need to rapidly introduce new sales models are driving businesses to invest in composable commerce architectures, enabling them to develop digital commerce capabilities incrementally while adapting quickly to changing business requirements.
Digital transformation in large organizations is no longer just about implementing a new commerce platform, it is about modernizing the entire technology ecosystem. Businesses need solutions that enable them to scale across multiple markets without increasing operational complexity. Composable commerce provides exactly that opportunity, allowing organizations to modernize step by step while ensuring uninterrupted business operations – Mateusz Skowron, Head of Digital Transformation, Univio
Building the Foundation for Techstep’s Future Growth
Techstep operates across several Nordic markets, providing business customers with mobile devices and device lifecycle management services. Before the project, its online sales environment consisted of multiple independent e-commerce platforms and ERP systems operating separately across different countries. The objective was to create a single, modern B2B commerce platform capable of gradually replacing legacy solutions while providing a scalable foundation for future market expansion and additional business models. The new commercetools-based solution enabled a seamless migration with no disruption to the ordering process or customer experience. The MVP was delivered on schedule, allowing the first legacy system to be retired while establishing a strong foundation for the company’s ongoing digital transformation.
Scope of the Partnership
The project delivered by Univio included the design and implementation of a modern B2B e-commerce platform based on a composable commerce architecture. The solution was designed as a unified foundation for Techstep’s existing and future markets, supporting the gradual consolidation of its digital commerce ecosystem.
One of the key objectives of the project was to streamline our e-commerce environment and gradually move away from legacy systems. Thanks to our partnership with Univio, we successfully launched the new platform on schedule, without disrupting our customers or interrupting order processing. This marks an important milestone in our digital transformation journey – says Martin Mellqvist, Head of Product at Techstep.
As part of the project, Univio provided a dedicated agile development team, taking full responsibility for the technology implementation and allowing Techstep’s internal teams to focus on other strategic transformation initiatives. The platform was integrated with Techstep’s existing technology stack, including commercetools, Okta, AngularJS, Microsoft Azure, and a .NET/C# backend, delivering a flexible architecture designed for future expansion.
